Groundplanz is a professional landscape design and construction business, owned by Laurie Gallagher, servicing the Wellington region. It is a family business with 4 full-timers and two part-timers.

Our focus is on providing the right solutions for your needs and the environment you live in – solutions that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Delivering a quality finish to all our work is our hallmark, and creating natural landscapes is one of our specialties.

We understand how to deal with the challenging Wellington terrain and climate – Laurie’s training ground was working with difficult soils and conditions in the early landscaping of Whitby.

Our landscaping work is mainly based on our own designs, with input from our clients, but we also work with landscape architects depending on the needs of our clients.

The Groundplanz team

Laurie is our project manager. He responds to your landscaping enquiries, listens to your needs and designs solutions to suit your budget. In 2013 he started Groundplanz, after taking a long break from his first landscaping business in Gisborne. In between he was a landscape tutor, wrote courses and industry standards and was a training advisor for the Horticulture ITO. He has an in-depth knowledge of native plants that stems from a life-long passion for tramping.

Shaun and Casey – carry out the construction and planting work. Shaun has a flair for lines and levels and his specialty is creating natural landscapes. Casey is a craftsman joiner who brings precision and attention to detail to our construction work.

Kieran works part-time on construction, accounts and web content. Dianne oversees the finances and marketing.
