Groundplanz offers a full range of landscaping services, from garden consultation through to complete garden creation. With our expertise we can help you find the right solutions for your garden layout, for structural features and plant selection. We aim to provide designs that are functional, aesthetically pleasing and well-suited to the environment you live in. Our work is mainly based on our own designs, but we also work with landscape architects depending on the needs of our client. View the galleries below for examples of our recent work.

Garden Consultation
Whether you are stuck for ideas or you have your own and need guidance, we can help – with garden layout, structural features and plant selection. Tap into our ideas to enhance your indoor/outdoor living. We can provide solutions for problem areas – such as making an unusable area fully functional, addressing needs for shelter and privacy. We specialise in tree and plant knowledge and can advise which trees to keep and what plants will grow best in your location.
Consultation only
For consultation only, our charge is $100/hour. If you want Groundplanz to price landscape work there is no charge for our initial 1/2-hour visit.

Decks, Patios and Courtyards
We can help you create an attractive indoor/outdoor living area – one you will enjoy spending time in, and entertaining friends and family in. We use decks, patios and courtyards to provide an extension of your indoor living space. On hilly sections, decks can provide a much needed flat area.
Steps and Paths
In Wellington, steps often provide the main access to hilly properties. When designing, we consider both safety and stability needs – so they are fit for the purpose and the location. Exposed aggregate steps are very much in demand.
Fences and Gates
Our fences are custom designed to suit the situation and your needs – whether this be for your frontage or backyard, for screening, shelter or a sense of enclosure. We make gates but prefer to use professionally made ones and we can provide a selection of high quality designs for you to choose from.
Planting and Lawns
Use our expertise to create a garden you will enjoy. Natural planting and native plants are our specialty – we also have a very wide knowledge of trees and plants generally, and know the kinds of environments they grow best in. We can advise which trees should be kept and which should be removed.

Paving and Driveways
First impressions count! A well-formed driveway will provide an appealing approach to your home or business. We can tailor the paving around your property to ensure you get the best use of your site – some surfaces need to be durable for walking on in all weathers.
Pergolas and Screens
You can enhance the attractiveness of your outdoor living space by introducing pergolas and screens. They add a sense of enclosure and provide shelter and privacy. They can also help frame desirable views – and block undesirable ones!
Retaining Walls
Clients request retaining walls for two main reasons – to retain a bank, or to transform a useless steep area into a flat space for outdoor living. Our retaining walls are strongly constructed with adequate drainage control and, where necessary, meet Council regulations and consent requirements.
